Hi,
A new snapshot and a new binary kit have been made available today. Notable
changes from the previous snapshot are:
- Use of the LatticeMico32 soft-processor [1] (software now runs approx. twice
as fast without resorting to HW dual-threading)
- Full interrupt support on all peripherals
- Improved UART
- Improved BIOS and serial bootloader (for loading Linux kernels)
- Fixed SDRAM clocking (there were problems on some boards)
- Improved documentation (especially a good introduction paper [2]).
The hardware should now be fully ready to render many MilkDrop presets.
Development on the demonstration firmware will continue; at the same time
there is an effort to run a uClinux kernel on the system [3]. While this is
not an absolute requirement, it would still make a nice demo of the SoC
capabilities.
Binary kits provide you with a turnkey solution to test the system using a
Xilinx ML401 development board [4] [5]. They are also useful for the software
developers who do not want to install bulky FPGA tools and still be able to
develop software for the Milkymist SoC.
