Yes, this is the one we're considering for M1r4:
I just don't have any such LEDs at home. That's why it was quicker

Hmm, bottom-facing LEDs would provide a cleaner solution in those
cases where we could try to squeeze a LED under a component, i.e.,
MIDI, DMX, and video in. But bottom-mounted side-facing LEDs solve
that as well and are a bit easier to source.
However, this gave me another idea: we could improve the upward
emission of bottom-mounted side-facing LEDs by leaving the small
PCB area between LED and edge clear, i.e., free from copper and
free from solder stop. At least FR4 would be translucent, allowing
some light to pass at a steeper angle, like this:
Would this work with the PCB material used for M1 ?
